MID-SENIOR VMWARE ENGINEER – CLEARED
Our client, a leading IT consulting firm to the federal government, is seeking a VMware Engineer to join their team supporting a virtualization program for the US Navy. This position is located in Virginia Beach, VA and requires full-time, onsite presence at the government facility. Up to 15% travel required.
Responsibilities
The VMware Engineer will contribute to CVN Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems virtualization.
- Support virtualization-based O&M tasking of deployed operational Infrastructure solutions backed by Citrix, Microsoft, NetApp, Nutanix, Veeam, and VMware.
- Conduct technical investigations of customer reported issues.
- Collaborate with customer engineers and other VMware 3rd-party resources to investigate customer reported issues.
- Provide input on product direction, design, and development.
- Perform root cause analysis of customer reported issues.
- Participate in design decisions.
- Contribute to product documentation and manuals.
- Provide assistance in product training, customer meetings, and speaking engagements.
- Participate in and participate in product release planning.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
- 5 or more years of hands-on experience providing progressively complex Enterprise IT administration or engineering support in one or more of the following areas: virtualized environments, servers, cybersecurity, endpoints, and/or networks.
- US Navy ship system experience and understanding; specifically in virtualizing Hull, Mechanical, and Electrical (HM&E) systems.
- Demonstrated experience implementing, operating, tuning, optimizing, and maintaining solutions to provide virtualization, storage, data protection, and networking services for enterprise level consumers.
- Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining enterprise-level technologies, such as Microsoft, VMware, Nutanix, NetApp, RHEL, Citrix, Cisco, or similar.
- Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining solutions in secure processing environments that utilize Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs).
- Meet the Cyber IT/Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) System Administrator (451) Intermediate Level for SECNAV M-5239.2 compliance.
- Ability to travel up to 15%.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience applying virtualization solutions to combat systems.
- Strongly desired to hold advanced certifications in a technical area, such as CCNA, NCAP, CISSP, VCP, NCDA, CCA, RHCSA, Azure Fundamentals, or similar.
- Expert knowledge of vSphere and vCloud Director; experience with ESXi, vCenter and vMotion.
- Expert knowledge of best practice VMware deployment techniques.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging vendor-provided best practices, systems, applications, and services to regularly patch and upgrade solutions.
Desired Education and Certifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field or equivalent experience
- CompTIA Security+ CE
- GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
- Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
